Departmental Graduation Requirements
1) English Proficiency Requirements for Graduation : These regulations apply to students admitted from the 2000 academic year onwards (including general transfer students from the 2002 academic year).
- A) The English proficiency requirement is based on TOEIC scores. Scores from other recognized tests, such as TOEFL (PBT, CBT, iBT), G-TELP, and TEPS, will be converted to their TOEIC equivalents.
- B) Students admitted before the 2007 academic year can satisfy the English proficiency requirement by completing 2 or more major courses (including major foundations) taught in English, provided the courses were offered after the Spring 2008 semester.
- C) For freshmen, general transfer students, and readmitted students of the 2008 academic year, the English proficiency requirement is considered satisfied upon the completion of 3 or more major courses (including major foundations) taught in English.
※ Completion of two 'English Class B' courses is equivalent to the completion of one English-taught course. -
D) Exemptions
- (1) Individuals who have passed the first round of a National Examination or an equivalent professional certification exam (e.g., Public Administration Exam, Diplomat Candidate Selection Exam, Legislative Exam, Technical Exam, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Patent Attorney, or Customs Broker).
- (2) Athletic Talents, International Students (Freshman and Transfer), Overseas Koreans (including North Korean defectors), Bachelor's Degree Transfers, Vocational High School Graduates, Students with Disabilities (Individuals designated for exemption through deliberation by the Special Support Committee for Students with Disabilities), Dual Degree and Invited Dual Degree Students(Dual degree students who withdraw from their studies at the foreign university before completion will be excluded from this exemption.)
- (3) Students who have completed all three levels of Practical English (Introductory), (Intermediate), (Advanced). (As Practical English (Introductory) was discontinued in 2014, and Practical English (Intermediate & Advanced) were discontinued in 2015, this exemption only applies to students who completed the series by the end of the 2014 academic year.)
- (4) Students from the Department of Physical Education (College of Education), School of Theater and Film (College of Media and Performance), College of Arts, College of Music, College of Sport Sciences, College of Traditional Korean Music, College of Physical Education, School of Global Knowledge and School of Knowledge-Based Management are exempt from the English proficiency.
- (5) TOEIC Speaking Level 6 or higher, TOEFL IBT Speaking Section 25 or higher, OPIc Intermediate Mid or higher (intermediate is applied to freshmen in 2012), GST Speaking 5 or higher - added to the application criteria for English proficiency by college.
- (6) Students who are exempt from taking General Education English courses (Students admitted from the 2010 academic year onwards through admission tracks for outstanding English proficiency—such as the Global Leader Track or the Language Excellence (English) Track—are automatically exempt).

3) Korean Language Proficiency Requirements :
- A) Applicability: Applicable to students admitted through the International Student Admission Track starting from the 2014 academic year (including transfer students).
- B) Proficiency Standards: Level 4 or higher in the Korean Language Proficiency Test (TOPIK) (Level 3 or higher in the case of the Department of Global Arts)
- C) Exemptions: Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) students (Government-invited international scholars), Students admitted under special institutional agreements between organizations, Students admitted through the Global Track admission process.
