Department of ADPR

Overview

대한민국 광고 교육은 중앙대학교 광고홍보학과에서 처음 시작되었습니다.

A Legacy of Innovation: From the First to the Global Standard

The Department of Advertising and Public Relations at Chung-Ang University (CAU) was established in 1974 as the first academic program of its kind in Korea. For more than five decades, the program has played a leading role in shaping the communication industry.

In 2026, the department was expanded and reorganized into two specialized tracks—Advertising & Public Relations and Global Advertising & PR—reflecting a steadfast commitment to educating professionals for a globalized era. Building on this legacy, the department now aims to cultivate globally competitive leaders who can navigate and manage strategic communication across diverse social and cultural contexts.

Educational Philosophy: Cultivating Strategic Leaders

Rather than training students simply as communication practitioners, our program is designed to prepare them as strategic communication leaders. Our graduates are equipped to understand complex social environments and manage communication at both organizational and societal levels.

Key Pillars of Excellence:

  1. Interdisciplinary Integration A broad educational environment where academic knowledge is seamlessly integrated with practical experience.

  2. Comprehensive Curriculum The curriculum covers the full spectrum of advertising and public relations, enabling students to develop both creative insight and analytical thinking.

  3. Theory-Practice Balance The balanced development of theoretical foundations and practical application is emphasized through continuously updated coursework.

  4. Industry Partnerships Field-oriented learning is reinforced through strong industry–academia partnerships, providing students with essential hands-on opportunities.

A Commitment to a Responsible Future

Today, the deparment continues to expand its global perspective by integrating digital media, data analytics, and emerging technologies such as AI into communication education and research. Through these efforts, we strive to foster future leaders who contribute to the development of responsible and innovative advertising and public relations. We invite you to explore the future of communication with the institution that started it all in Korea.
